The India Open 2025 concluded in spectacular fashion at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall, with Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen and South Korea’s An-Se Young clinching the men’s and women’s singles titles, respectively.
Men’s Singles: Axelsen’s Triumphant Third Title
Viktor Axelsen, often referred to as The Great Dane, showcased his dominance as he secured his third India Open title by defeating Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk Yiu in straight sets (21-16, 21-8). The victory came after just 41 minutes of play, highlighting Axelsen’s unmatched skill and athleticism.
“It feels incredible to win this title again,” said Axelsen. “This is my first title as a 31-year-old, and it brings back memories of my first final here 10 years ago. Winning it for the third time is surreal.”
Lee Cheuk Yiu, who was also the runner-up in the 2024 edition, started strong with a 6-3 lead in the first game. However, Axelsen’s precision and retrieval skills soon turned the match in his favor. After securing the opening game, Axelsen’s relentless smashes overwhelmed Lee, sealing an emphatic victory.
Women’s Singles: An-Se Young’s Commanding Victory
In the women’s singles final, South Korea’s An-Se Young continued her incredible form, defeating Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong 21-12, 21-9 in just 39 minutes. The reigning Paris Olympics champion maintained her unbeaten record in 2025, adding this title to her Malaysia Open Super 1000 crown.
Young established dominance early, racing to an 11-4 lead in the first game and controlling the second with ease. This victory marked her 10th consecutive win of the year, further solidifying her position as a top contender.
Doubles Finals: Thrilling Showdowns
- Men’s Doubles: Malaysia’s Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin outplayed Korea’s Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae in a gripping three-set match (21-15, 13-21, 21-16).
- Women’s Doubles: Japan’s Arisa Igarashi and Ayako Sakuramoto completed their dream run with a decisive 21-15, 21-13 victory over South Korea’s Kim Hye Jeong and Kong Hee Yong.
