In a stellar display of skill and determination, Indian shuttlers made their mark at the prestigious All England Badminton Championships, with Lakshya Sen and the women’s doubles pair of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa advancing to the pre-quarterfinals.
Lakshya Sen, the World Championship bronze medalist, exhibited his class as he cruised into the second round with a commanding straight-game victory over Denmark’s Magnus Johannesen. Sen’s formidable performance sets up an intriguing clash against world No.3 Anders Antonsen in the upcoming round of the BWF Super 1000 tournament.
Meanwhile, in the women’s doubles event, Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa showcased impeccable teamwork as they secured a convincing victory over Yeung Nga Ting and Yeung Pui Lam. Their stellar performance earned them a spot in the next round, where they are set to face the formidable Chinese fifth seeds, Zhang Shu Xian and Zheng Yu.
However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for India at the championship, as Priyanshu Rajawat faced an early exit following a hard-fought battle against Indonesia’s Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, resulting in a narrow loss in the opening round.
