Bijoy Barman and Arup Buragohain from Assam will play for India in an international badminton masters competition.

Guwahati: Arup Buragohain and Bijoy Barman of Assam will compete for India in the highly anticipated “Ceylon Masters International Badminton Championships 2024,” which will take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on July 25–28 of this year.

Barman will compete for India in the tournament’s 55-age doubles and 50-age mixed doubles competitions. Barman’s mixed doubles partner will be Urvashi Thapa of Maharashtra, while his doubles partner will be Buragohain.

India had previously been represented by Barman and Buragohain in the “2023 Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Championships,” which were hosted in South Korea. On July 23, the two would go for Colombo.

With a $10,000 prize fund up for grabs, the main event promises exhilarating competitions drawing elite shuttlers from all around the world. The championship is conducted in compliance with BWF rules.

The preliminary stages of the competition will take place on July 25 and 26, with the quarterfinals and semifinals taking place on July 27. The finals are scheduled on July 28.

In addition to combined age categories for 100 plus, 110 plus, 120 plus, 130 plus, and 140 plus throughout men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events, the tournament includes tournaments for a wide range of age groups, from 35 to 75.
